Sweet & Spicy Teriyaki Meatballs

sweet and spicy chinese meatballs

Love Chinese food? Try this quick and easy alternative to take-out. I created these meatballs one night when I was in the mood for Chinese food, and I only had ground beef.

I have always been intimidated by homemade meatballs of any kind. I thought they were difficult and time consuming, but it is really not the case.  One of the challenges in making meatballs is ensuring all of the meatballs are the same size for a uniform cook. I use a cookie dough baller with the squeeze handle which results in less mess and uniform meatballs.

Surprisingly, meatballs are very versatile. Choose your ground meat and seasoning then simmer in the sauce of your choice. The options are limitless. It never occurred to me to make an Asian flavored meatball but I was pleasantly surprised. The flavors were both sweet and spicy and served over white rice made a hearty meal. Hope you enjoy!
